One Track Mind Foundation Partners with Timberland Hills for an Epic Trail Experience

Transforming Timberland Hills into a Mountain Biking Paradise with OTM's Trail Expertise

The great outdoors has always been a place of wonder and adventure, and now, thanks to a visionary partnership between the One Track Mind (OTM) Foundation, Timberland Hills Foundation (THF), and Burnett County, a new and exciting chapter is unfolding in the heart of Wisconsin. With the spotlight on the Timberland Hills Recreation Area near Cumberland, a destination-quality single-track mountain bike trail system is about to become a reality, creating a trailblazing experience that will captivate outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.

A Perfect Partnership for Trail Enthusiasts

The strategic collaboration between OTM, THF, and Burnett County is set to create a transformative mountain biking trail network. Nestled amidst the beauty of the Timberland Hills, a sprawling 2,300-acre forest that straddles Burnett, Barron, and Washburn counties, this trail system will become a haven for bikers seeking a thrilling yet harmonious experience with nature.

One Track Mind Foundation brings its expertise as a creator and catalyst for mountain biking projects nationwide. This partnership promises to not only elevate the outdoor experience but also empower local communities and youth to become stewards of nature. Timberland Hills Foundation, an organization borne out of the Cumberland Area Ski Touring Association (CASTA), is well-versed in developing and maintaining ski trails for outdoor enthusiasts. Their legacy of more than 30 years in cross-country ski trails has now expanded to embrace the world of mountain biking. Together these two organizations will bring nearly 30 miles of trail to the Cumberland community.

Unveiling the Trail System: Where Adventure Meets Accessibility

The star of the show, the Timberland Hills mountain biking trail system, is designed to cater to riders of all levels. With plans for at least 25 miles of single-track trails that adapt to different skill levels, every adventurer, from novices to seasoned riders, will find a trail that suits their appetite for challenge and exploration.

The trail system will include:

  • All Abilities Trails (green): Designed for beginners and intermediate riders, these progression-oriented trails invite active families and mixed riding groups, fostering a welcoming environment for all ages.

  • Exploration Trails (blue): Offering a diversity of intermediate trails, this section provides a range of experiences, from light singletrack loops to thrilling flow trails.

  • Adventure Trails (black): Pushing advanced riders to their limits, these trails promise challenging climbs, steep descents, and exciting features.

  • Gravity Zones (red): The ultimate thrill for downhill enthusiasts, these gravity-based hubs link continuous features like ladder bridges, pump tracks, drop zones, and jump lines.

A Vision Coming to Life: The Journey Ahead

The partnership guarantees that the trail system will evolve and thrive over the next three to five years, with a budget of $1.2 million to see its completion. The collaboration between OTM, THF, and Burnett County showcases the best of trail design and execution. Dirt Candy Design and Kay-Linn Enterprises have played pivotal roles in bringing the initial conceptual trail design to life.

As we look ahead, the first phase of the project is already set in motion. The construction of All Abilities trails, the Blue connector to the Gravity Zones, and the northeastern Advanced loop is underway, thanks to the dedication of Pathfinder Builders and Dirt Candy Design. Further construction is planned for the upcoming years, creating a comprehensive trail network that will be a year-round recreational haven for outdoor enthusiasts.

A New Dawn for Timberland Hills

Timberland Hills Recreation Area is poised to become a year-round haven for outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers, as this partnership brings a vibrant and thrilling mountain biking experience to life. Through the shared passion and dedication of OTM, THF, and Burnett County, a canvas of natural beauty is being transformed into an outdoor adventure paradise.

As Tracy Paradise, the CEO and President of OTM, aptly puts it, "This trail system will be a true destination for all riders, abilities, and anyone who just loves to be on their two wheels." The combination of trail expertise, community collaboration, and nature's splendor ensures that Timberland Hills will become a beloved destination for generations to come.

In the heart of Wisconsin, a new era of outdoor adventure is dawning. With the collaborative spirit of OTM, THF, and Burnett County, Timberland Hills is poised to become a mountain biking haven that celebrates nature's beauty while embracing the thrill of the trails.
